Our Mission
Our mission is to unify, educate, and empower the community of Black gay, trans, and bisexual people ages 13-39 in New Orleans by providing a fun and safe place to hang out. To achieve this, we frequently host many events from movie nights to karaoke that are always open to the community.
In order to accomplish our mission, we offer the following services:
- HIV & STI testing
- Counseling services
- Condom distribution
- Social events
- A safe, drop-in space
- Community testing
- Support for people living with HIV

In Louisiana, Black and African Americans make up only 32% of the state’s population but account for 74% and 78% of all new HIV and AIDS cases, respectively. In 2010, of the new HIV diagnoses among African Americans in Louisiana, 47% are men who have sex with men, this rate increases to 57% when looking just within the city of New Orleans.
The Movement, a program of Crescent Care, was created to bring a new approach to HIV prevention to address these statistics among the Black gay/bisexual community in New Orleans. The Movement is funded through support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), to work with and mobilize the community to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in New Orleans.
